In a Tumblr post in 2012, Salgado sought out other people like him who were undocumented and queer, or “undocuqueers” as the artist calls them. He asked them for a photo of themselves and a personal reflection on their intersectional identities. The artist turned these images and statements into works that circulate on digital platforms and provide undocuqueer online users with a sense of community and empowerment. Salgado’s artistic activism has made him one of the most recognizable Dreamers and DACA recipients in the United States.
