I Demoni

Theatre performance I Demoni by Pieter Stein, Tieffe Teatro Milano and Wallenstein Betriebs GmbH, programmed in Holland Festival 2010.
In recent years the great director Peter Stein has visited the Dutch theatres and festivals with exclusively operatic works. Holland Festival is now proud to present Stein’s theatrical marathon I Demoni, based on the novel by Fjodor Dostojevski, with an Italian cast. Demons tells the ill-fated story of a group of revolutionaries in the Russian provinces, their ideas, their cynical politics and their violent ways. According to Stein the story is still as powerful and relevant now as it was then. In his production the radical 19th century anarchists become the fanatics of today, and demonstrate the moral failure of materialism.
