Chest organ by Jacob Hannss, northern Germany, ca. 1620. This small organ measures approximately 32 inches x 19-1/2 inches x 34 inches. Thirty-one of the organ's 390 pipes are arranged on the front in a facade framed by a gilded carving. While the organist plays the 45-key manual, an assistant must simultaneously pump the bellows, located at the top of the organ. Similar instruments can still be found in Poland.
