Museu do Oriente
Lisboa, Portugal

The weaving, the embroidery of the garments and the indigo skirt with a very tight pleat, are material testimonies and symbols of the weddings and festivities of the Miao tradition. The piece is hung on the walls of houses while waiting for the fabric to dry and to fix the desired pleating. Given the complexity and slowness of the execution, it is difficult to separate the Miao women from their skirts and this instrument.
