A Zulu dancing stick made from the root of a tree. Sticks carried by an ordinary homestead head were distinguised fromt hose carried by chiefs. Sticks are also used in fighting stick competitions, while dance sticks continue to fearue prominently on festive occasions such as weddings. The idea of manhood is reflected above all in the sticks men weild while dancing at weddings and on other occasions
