This silver case for writing accessories was made by Nathanael Schlaubitz, a goldsmith belonging to the outstanding representatives of High Baroque in Gdansk. The Wilanów case is one of two made by Schlaubitz that are preserved in Poland. Inside, it has separate compartments for inkwells, a sand-shaker, pens and paper. Letters and papers were stored behind the pivoting openwork repousséed barrier fastened to the lid with hooks.
