“Iris retrieves waste glazes and mud, processes them and gets a new material from them which it sends back to their factories. Over 5 thousand tonnes of waste per year, which is not thrown away or buried”. An article published on November 2nd, 1988 in the newspaper La Repubblica marked a turning-point, the umpteenth one, in the Iris Group’s approach towards sustainability.
The ceramic industry, at that time “in the line of fire” because it was considered to be just a source of pollution, “can win the ecological challenge”.
