Try to track down your attention when you look at the representative of the youngest generation Linas Jusionis painting Interior with a tapestry. You will not even notice that your look will stop at the blue square on the right side. The artist “borrowed” this ornament from the old Seville tapestry, that hung in one of the most famous fortress of Spain, Alcazar.

However Linas Jusionis interior does not remind us of luxurious palace. At first glance it is even difficult to say that it is a house. When you look closer you can see that this accommodation is like a cottage in a sunny land with a warm breeze and green palms. “Interior with a tapestry” reminds the creation of another pop-art painter David Hockney. Leisure and vacation atmosphere is always present in his paintings.

The painting Interior with a tapestry which was painted in 2010 is made of strict and regular planes. When these planes collide they create the impression of a house and inner image that is seen through the window. But if one takes a longer look to the left wall of the house, the image becomes distorted, because the dwelling is portrayed in a strange manner and contradicts the logics of perspective.
One more thing that is important – the viewer is intruded with observer’s position. It seems as if you are trying to see what is going on in someone’s house, though there are no signs of life. But it is enough for your mind to create the germ of detective story. In the words of the artist:

“The man’s wish to create narrative out of images is natural. One can’t sustain mute relations with the world. It is important for me that these works are speechless. This is some kind of provocation for a viewer to enter and explore the narrative, which for me is only in the intuitive level.”
