This long, sheath-type gown made of gold lame and lace is decorated with sequins. Miss America 1963, Jacquelyn Mayer, wore the dress during her reign. Jacquelyn Jeanne Mayer was born in 1943 in Sandusky, Ohio, and attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She was crowned Miss Ohio in 1962 and became Miss America for 1963. In 1970, at age 28, Mayer suffered a massive stroke. She spent the next seven years in rehabilitation and is now a motivational speaker and spokesperson for stroke and heart associations.
