King Kalakaua visited Japan during his trip around the world in 1881. This ancient sword is reputedly one of many presentation gifts from the Meiji emperor to the King and his suite. Given to Col. C. H. Judd. Made by Sukesada studio, Osafune School, Bizen, Japan.
