The style of Bethlehem embroidery influenced all the villages around Jerusalem, however each village used its own fabric, which was mainly hand-woven silk, imported from Syria. The yellow and black striped silk used in this dress gives it its name, Itafi. It was used in the villages north of Jerusalem.
