Since the Stone Age, women, and also men, have adorned themselves with various types of rings as jewellery. What changed over the millennia was only the type of material, but not the intention of the wearer. The arm rings and ankle rings from Wildeshausen come from a hoard on the edge of a moor. So, these rings were apparently not only worn as jewellery, but were so valuable for their owner that they were sacrificed to the gods.
