Jin-silk with Confronted Goats in Beaded Floral Medallions

China National Silk Museum

China National Silk Museum
Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China

On this piece of jin-silk fragment only one beaded floral medallion is comparatively complete. A pair of confronted goats with big horns is standing on the palm-tree-shaped platform inside the floral roundel. The pattern in the lower part of the goats, especially the legs, is difficult to identify due to the severe fading of color. Only the silhouette of two legs can be roughly recognized based on the traces of interlacing between weft threads of different colors.
