British Major-General James Wolfe's manuscript journal offers unique insight into his thoughts, a few weeks before his death on the Plains of Abraham on September 13, 1759. In his 22-page journal, Wolfe described the events leading to the fall of New France. He detailed how the British forces advanced up the St. Lawrence and laid siege to Quebec, as well as skirmishes, troop movements, dealings with officers and more, punctuating his account with frequently bitter and sometimes personal comments.
