In addition to his many writings and books, Goethe used the residence to store his ever-growing collections of artwork and scientific specimens. Today, numerous personal items and pieces of furniture from his estate are on display in 18 publicly accessible rooms. The centrepiece is the poet’s study, with authentic furnishings and his private library.
