Entrepreneur and photographer August Fuhrmann (1844-1925) opened his first "Kaiserpanorama" in Wroclaw in 1880, showing stereodias on a variety of topics and places. Fuhrmann's advertising promised: "The Kaiserpanorama solves the problem of making the world known to the world." With the highly successful mass medium he operated up to 250 branches not only in Germany but throughout Europe and even overseas. The largest collection of Kaiserpanorama stereodias (11,350 pieces) was acquired by the DHM in 2005.
