Helen Chadwick was known for her unconventional use of organic and manmade forms in challenging works of photography, sculpture and installation. In an interview, Chadwick discussed her examination of "the dimly charted corner of the id where sex drive, childhood memory, sense of place, the appetite for security, fear of dying and a host of other subcutaneous human motor forces squelch around the subconscious like mud wrestlers."
