Chewing tobacco was often sold in roll form. These were commonly referred to as "Wenneler". As smoking was strictly prohibited underground, chewing tobacco and snuff are often consumed underground to this day. This product, "Der echte Marschall" of 1948 was manufactured by the Emanuel Marschall GmbH tobacco factory in St. Wendel and had been on the market since 1822.
