circa 1869

Heritage Victoria
East Melbourne, Australia

Large iron keys retrieved from the wreck of the Victoria Tower. It is likely that these keys were part of the general cargo carried on the Victoria Tower when it was lost in thick squally weather at Point Impossible near Torquay. The keys are iron but retain traces of gilding over some parts of the surface.
