Kimchidok, also called dogaji, is a jar used to store an assortment of sauces and pastes as well as kimchi. It is made by hollowing out a log and adding different type of wood at the bottom. Wooden kimchi jars are generally used in the mountainous areas of Gangwon Province. Unlike pottery jars, wooden jars are made of a log, and therefore do not have a rounded belly, with little difference in size between the mouth and the bottom.
