A rather intriguing object is King Gustav III’s incognito seal. The King sometimes travelled under the name of Count of Haga. No one mistook him for a simple Count, of course, but it enabled him to travel more freely and without full monarchical splendour. The seal depicts a blue escutcheon with the image of a man’s head in profile. The moustache and beard might have been added at a later stage, after the King’s death.
