King Miguel (1802-1866), son of King João VI, had a brief reign. He married Princess Adelaide of Loewenstein-Wertheim when he was already in exile. He represented the Absolutist faction in the so-called Liberal Wars. His reign was short and disputed. The present-day successors of the House of Bragança desdended from his marriage.
