Formerly a painter, Paula Chamlee switched to photography because she feels that it is through a camera where she is able to interact with universal conditions and feelings that are deeper than imaginative contrivances. She says that photography allows her to go, “beyond depicting the reality of subject matter and touch a resonant chord through it abstracted arrangement of space and form. ” Kjálkafjörður Iceland explores the abstract nature of landscape with which Chamlee was fascinated.
