G-2 muon storage ring

1974

CERN

CERN
Geneva, Switzerland

On June 15, they succeeded in storing 3 GeV muons in the G-2 ring, 14 m in diameter, giving an extremely uniform magnetic field of 15000 Gauss. The object of the experiment being performed by a CERN-Mainz-Daresbury collaboration is to measure with even higher precision the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon.
