Pier Domenico Magri participates edition of 2015 with an installation entitled "The Eternit Rest" (2015). Through this work Magri is detached from pictorial mode only previously used to explore new and unusual aspects and processes of art making. We are in fact facing the first installation by allowing the unveiling of a component of an ironic and caustic taste, subtle and biting than in other works he had omitted. The installation was made using different materials and has many components which, joined together, reveal the overall meaning of the work.
In this picture we see one of the two pedestals placed at the sides of the pictorial, whose summit is positioned a stuffed animal (right) and a bust of Adolf Hitler.
The seriousness and the atrocities of the bust of the dictator, the bulky thickness of his personality are almost canceled and ridiculed by the puppet that occupies the pedestal. This soft plush portrays a tender duck that sits comically on the pedestal. The simple object, thanks to the symbolic value that we attribute unanimously, is able to make the snowman a work of art through a memory operation Duchamp.
Legitimized his "status", the puppet keeps still looks alienating
and dazed, as if you blew them to be in the midst of art objects observed by a crowd of people. Symbol of childhood, it seems that the toy has ancient origins, dating back to ancient Egypt, where it seems that the furs were sewn to form toys in the shape of animals, which were donated to the children of wealthy families. In modern times, from the nineteenth century, the plush has become the essential accessory for every child. The puppet is therefore a clear reference to the world of childhood and its innocence, that recurs in a sweetened and alien, dominated and enjoyed by people in adulthood.
