"The drawings are emanations of my poetic universe as it currently unravels, with its current figures: they are not illustrations. If I was a mere draughtsman, even a very good one, I would not draw figures with necklaces and belts made of rats. The work is at the same time extremely sordid and fresh. In the drawings, the colour of the naked flesh, the rose of Aurora's fingers in Homer, as for instance in the frontispiece for the manuscript of Eden, Eden, Eden, is an equivalent of the musical beauty of the text. Readers may, some day, use those drawings to confirm their own vision of this world."
