Gutenberg's press is a recent innovation at Leonardo da Vinci's time. Often in monasteries, the fisrt printing houses use heavy machines, requiring several operators. Leonardo da Vinci is one of the first to modernize it. He adapts the press for only one operator.
The sink occasions the lowering of the press to print paper and rise up automatically. At the same time, a mobile plateau with wheels slides along the sheet of paper under the press. When printing is over, the plateau comes back at the initial position.
Paradoxically, we had to wait the XVIIth century to read printing books or notes by Leonardo da Vinci.
