Claudi Tarragó Borrás (1901-1986) The sculptor emigrated to Chile at the end of the Spanish Civil War, in 1939, after passing through Argentina, where he settled and developed his artistic career. The art critic Domènec Guansé highlights and values in his work the progression from the academicism developed in Chile to the abstract experiments produced in Catalonia at the end of the fifties, which resulted in an ingenuous and popular art that was “abstractionist” and at the same time a wise, refined and calculated primitivism. These are the key characteristics of this work: Plegadora d’olives (Olive Press) 14th Julio Antonio Sculpture Award, 1964 Art Biennial.
