The scene depicts clients in the well-known shop: a couple with a boy, accompanied by the governess. They are purchasing a lace hair-band. It belonged to the collection of the Infante don Luis de Borbón, brother of Charles III, and because of its theme and style it is a new approach in the art of the time.
