Stojan Celic belongs to the circle that in the second half of the twentieth century introduced Yugoslav and Serbian art into the artistic context of world creativity. In the early phase, he turned to new abstract expressions, reducing the plasticity of images to line, surface and color as the dominant, in order to gradually reduce the realism of form to the basic elements. He explores the elements of the landscape, translating it into rough masses and then into very precisely placed coloristic surfaces. The painting Landscape is among the best examples of this phase of his oeuvre, because later he significantly purified it and reduced the painting exclusively to chromatic, flat surfaces. He is one of the authors who, with his authentic structure and gradual creation of a refined painting language, marked the Serbian fine arts of that period.
