Frogs often amplify their calls using their vocal sacs. They do so by filling their throat sac with air to inflate it. This not only creates a larger resonance chamber, but the sound waves are also dispersed more evenly in every direction. After all, frog males need a good way to locate a female. Their vocal sac allows tree frogs to achieve especially high volumes.
