The midnight sun shines on the barren North Cape. A small sailboat manoeuvres the waves. This is chart XLVI from Skjöldebrand's "Voyage pittoresque au Cap Nord".
Skjöldebrand was a Swedish nobleman, officer, writer and an artist, who travelled thru Finnmark at the beginning of the 1800s when the Swedish crown was interested in the local copper resources in the region. He is one of many artists who travelled to northern Norway to paint North cape which was a popular and exotic subject of art, is the northernmost point of mainland Europe.
