National Museums of Kenya

National Museums of Kenya
Nairobi, Kenya

The leg-bell is worn around the ankles and is particularly used by young men when dancing. The length is doubled and tied over a piece of skin or cloth which is tied round the leg first. Such bells were made by a blacksmith in the Fort Hall (Muranga) area.
