Leonardo da Vinci dies in the Clos Lucé on May 2nd 1519, 67 years old. He is burried on August 12, inside Saint Florentin church in Amboise, according to his last wills.
According to Vasari, François I was present during Leonardo's last moment at the Clos Lucé. This scene, painted by Ingres, his a pure invention, a myth. That day, the King was in his palace of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, celebrating the birth of his second chlid. In fact, Melzi was the one who told the news to François I, who shed teard of sadness, according to the poet Giovanni Paolo Lomazzo.
After Leonardo'death, his artworks, as his friends, had differents destinies.
