High school at Stanislas college. Winner of the General Competition. After leaving Polytechnique and the Ecole des Mines (School of Mines) de Paris, he was a member of the territorial administration of mine inspection, successively in Alais, Amiens, Arras, Nancy and Paris. He is co-founder and first technical director of the School of Mines (Ecole des mines) de Nancy (1919). Mobilized in 1914 as artillery commander in Toul. In 1916, he was director of the Automotive Supply Center in Vincennes. He was a delegate to the Arbitral Commission of Morocco (1919), and was responsible for the evaluation of mining war damage (1920-1926). In 1936, he created the Mining Documentation Office, which he quickly transferred to Armand Galliot. Director of the Paris School of Mines (Mines Paris) (1936-1940). Works on coal gases Works on heat transmission Works on the use of electricity Works on mining safety and all economic problems in the exploitation of mines. Officer of the Legion of Honor 1923 Inspector General of Mines in 1924. Commander of the Legion of Honor 1953 Laureate of the Academy of Sciences. Main regions covered: China (1898 and 1899), Russian Asia (1897 and 1911), Africa (1929). He is the father of Louis Leprince-Ringuet, physicist.
