Mandelstam, Abraham. [Carta] 1941 Nov. 28, New York, NY [para] Candido Portinari, New York, NY. [inglês][datilografado]
Dear Mr. Portinari:
Will you permit me to include you in a compilation of “Absent Moments in the Lives of Significant People”? I am searching the field of fiction and biography in the hope that I will secure interesting incidents of absent-mindedness, but I am equally anxious to have the research include incidents of the living important.
Professor Albert Einstein, Dr. Roy Chapman Andrews, Arthur Guiterman, and many others have graciously responded. Perhaps your secretary or some member in your family has in mind an incident that would lend itself for record.
I do so hope that in your kindness you will not look upon this request as an imposition. I am fully conscious of my encroachment on your time but your absent-moment totaled to the many others that I may secure might bring pleasure to others if and when these should be published.
Sincerely yours.
Abraham Mandelstam
P.S. Any reference to incidents in the literature will be very much appreciated.
William Beebe, Toger Hillyer, Gertrude Atherton, Professor Charles M. Andrews, Deems Taylor, Fannie Hurst, and many others have responded.
