Gladys Clapp writes passionately to her parents with her view of recent developments in the war, praising ‘Gallant little Greece’ and feels that ‘England has defiantly turned the corner now without a doubt.’ Gladys can see the destruction the Blitz is having from reports in the Madras Mail. Newspapers were a welcome source of information for those away from home, although, as Gladys says: ‘how nervous it does make me for your safety’.
