    [Letter Start] Honolulu Jan 14/87. His Excellency R.W. Irwin Min. Rep. of Hawaii to the Court of Japan Sir, I take pleasure in acknowledging the receipt of your communication, in you have reference to the political condition in Japan and its relation with foreign countries. I am glad to know that the Japanese autho-rities are alive to the best policy of opening their country to - foreign intercourse which have been one of the principal reason of foreign nations granting them {STOP}
