This extraordinary size, tall, elegant vase has a dish mouth, long slander neck and gently sloping shoulders. The body is well potted and tapers to small foot. The base is flat and unglazed. The body material is high fired and white, and is covered with a transparent glaze. The vase possibly has been made at the Gangwayaocun kiln in Chifeng, or Lioning or Mentougou near Beijing.
This object is similar shape with archaeological finds found at the tomb of the consort of the Liao Dynasty, princess in Chifeng, buried in AD 959. The vase found at the tomb, may have been made at the local Gangwayaocun kiln.
