This special piece, known as a “slug”, was found at level VII of the Musterian (mid-Palaeolithic, approximately 100 000 - 40 000 BP) in Amalda Cave (Zestoa, Gipuzkoa). It was made from a flint's thick flake or lamina, and has two opposing and intensely reworked blades, possibly the result of successive sharpening. This instrument was used to cut, scrape and scratch meat, leather, wood, etc.
