This oil painting, made in the second half of the 19th century by Luigi Bechi, portrays two small children in a painter's studio, with carpets, furniture and an easel with a sketched painting. The child, barefoot and with his legs wide open, wears a pair of glasses and playfully simulates reading a newspaper held upside down. At the scene the girl smiles amusedly; she's wearing a typical Ciociaria costume, and she's leaning her head against the back of the 18th-century chair.
