These paintings were made in 2004 while Myoe Thant Oung participated to the FAAM artist in residency program for three months. During his residency, Myoe draw elderly men and women living in Hakata (where the FAAM is located) based on the photography he took. His manner of carefully and finely drawing individual wrinkle and spot on their hands and face shows the artist’s respect towards elderly people who have lived in this world for such a long time. Gentle and joyful faces of the people in his painting seem to tell the viewer how fulfilling the life can be.
