Deep burgundy velvet and silk gown. Velvet fitted bodice. Short velvet collar in back. Deep square neckline filled with white net modesty scarf and trimmed with white lace that also forms a collar. Silk bow at base of neckline. Fifteen brass buttons from neckline to pointed waist. Front bodice stiffened with four flexible stays. Fitted sleeves with velvet cuff, silk bow and wide lace trim. Back constructed with two tails of velvet and silk. Floor-length skirt styled with straight front and back bustle and train. Velvet front and sides with "rick-rack' cut outs along hem that reveal pleated silk trim that is backed with brown lace and stiffened brown liner. Each hip trimmed with a "pocket" of 5 bands of wide purple & gold ribbon that is edged with black/gold/purple beadwork passementerie. Full silk train falls from a bustled back with bottom half made up of horizontal bands of silk and velvet. Train hemmed with pleated silk and lined with stiffened green khaki cotton.
