The anti-Jewish discrimination laws and regulations excluded Jewish citizens from all areas of public life and foreshadowed their tragic fate. They were followed by deportations to ghettoes, concentration camps and death camps for the Final Solution to the Jewish Question – the physical liquidation of the Jews. Before being deported, Jews were subjected to a degrading bureaucratic process; they had to hand over their house keys and were allowed to take only a limited amount of luggage weighing no more than 50 kg.
