Renaissance and Reformation. German Art in the Age of Dürer and Cranach

Martin Luther and the Czech theologian Jan Hus are guarding the spiritual herd in the garden of the Lord, who, in the form of the crucified Christ, gathers his sheep around him. Jan Hus was burned at the stake at the Council of Constance in 1415 for his early Reformist activities and in Luther’s day was still considered as one of the most important initiators of the Reformation movement.
