Lézart

Braids, tribal clubs and combs are recurring elements in the artworks by Tunga and in several of his oeuvres; the artist makes use of a magnetic field as a factor that expands the space of the work. In Lézart (1989), there is no weld between the iron sheets and the wire: the parts are connected by the attraction of magnets and by knots; they are structures that sustain themselves, negotiating between the forces of gravity and magnetism. In a story written by the artist, which in some way is part of the same work, he says that he is lying in a hammock, in a moment of suspension where he rests between philosophical readings and meditations, when he witnesses the fusion between two lizards.
