Description: The Magnaghi Collection has about two hundred works, including paintings, drawings and prints, created between the mid-forties and early nineties by the Milanese artist Ambrogio Magnaghi (Milan, 1912-2001). This collection, which came to the Museum in 2010 thanks to the legacy of Marco Magnaghi (Milan, 1956-2007), the son of the artist, documents not only the evolution of the painter's career, but also his fervent activity in the realm of metaphysical surrealist painting. This work is exemplary of the artist’s style between '62 and '66, in which his aesthetics were consummated and articulated in a single theme: the machine and nature. The artist expounds on this subject using various compositions, with the intent to propose a visionary alternative to the desolate human condition. Collection currently not on display.
