Most local watch manufacturers imported parts from Switzerland, France and Germany for assembling. By 1960 a number of top Swiss watch manufacturers had established assembly lines in Hong Kong to produce brass or stainless steel watchcases and bands. These were of very high quality and being made in Hong Kong was a selling point.
