Painting of Madonna and Child by Ellen Axson Wilson in the style of Pascal Adolphe Dagnan-Bouveret's Madonna of the Rose (1885). In an ornate gilded wood frame. This work moved with Woodrow and his second wife Edith to their Washington home and was placed above the former President's casket during funeral rites at the S Street house. It became the property of Eleanor Wilson McAdoo who later gave the painting to her daughter who sold it, along with two landscapes, to a private collector in California.
