Madresfield Court, Madresfield, Worcestershire

Madresfield Court country house dates to the 16th century. It was built on an earlier moated site, and was extensively restored, rebuilt and extended in 1866-88 by PC Hardwick.

The novelist Evelyn Waugh often visited the house and based the Marchmain family in 'Brideshead Revisited' on the Lygons who had lived there for centuries.
